2008 Ducati Monster S4RS Tricolore
In 2006, Ducati went a little crazy with their naked sport bike and stuffed it with a 998 superbike motor, radial-mounted Brembo brakes, and Ohlins suspension. It was the ultimate expression of the Monster – and at that time Monster sales were half of Ducati’s entire portfolio. In 2008, Ducati went a step further with the Tricolore. 400 examples were built, and 250 of those made it to the US. The S4RS continued the parts-bin nature of the Monster as the motor, Termi exhaust, Brembo P34 brakes and 10-spoke Marchesini wheels all came from Ducati’s flagship superbike at the time. But the “three color” limited edition added the special paint scheme, individualized number plate, and one-off clutch cover. Carbon fiber was also used for the silencer cover, exhaust heat guard, front mudguard, radiator covers, and more.
